Weddings!
(Skip directly to
pix?)
So many people getting married every day. So
many beginnings. And each one of these beginnings will be
remembered forever by those involved. And to help them
remember...the wedding photos!! Being the photographer at a
wedding is not something to be taken lightly. I resisted doing
weddings for a very long time for lack of confidence in myself, my
knowledge, and my equipment.
"What if something should go wrong with the camera without my
discovering it until AFTER getting the proofs back?" I've
learned two things. Trust your equipment, KNOW your equipment,
learn how to use it, and maintain it so that you can trust it. AND
(okay, it was MORE than two things <g>) carry backups for
everything possible.
"What if I'm not good enough, and they don't like the
photos?" I've always thought I had an 'eye' for good
composition. I've always thought I had something that wanted to
get out, that people would appreciate. I've always wanted to be
able to be involved in something beautiful and meaningful. And
since I've started doing weddings, I feel I'm doing something GOOD for
people. I get very positive feedback which tells me I'm on the
right track. I love seeing the smile on their faces when they look
at MY photos of THEIR wedding! The bride and groom are the sole
judges of whether I'm good enough or not. And from the feedback
I'm getting, I believe I'm getting better with each wedding I do!
"Why do I want to do something that has so many emotions tied up in
it that it makes normally rational people act crazy in it's planning
and, especially, on the day itself?" Well, that one's a
little harder to counteract, and that's the one that really kept me from
shooting weddings for a long time. But, you know what? It
doesn't make the good parts go away. I've learned to deal with the
hectic day by knowing what's happening and being ready for it.
So, do you wanna see some
wedding photos? Hmmm??
(I'll be adding more as time permits.)
